Beware the Bite by WildlyWickedArt Beware the Bite by WildlyWickedArt
Another shot of my self made Aela the Huntress cosplay. My first cosplay ever! :D
If you've never played Skyrim.. First of all SHAME ON YOU ;) , and second of all Aela is part of a warrior's guild in Whiterun called the Companions. There is a twist... The Inner Circle of the Companions are all werewolves, including Aela.

This photo was taken at the Renaissance Fair in Texas

On the making of this cosplay: Yes, I am the model, but also the creator. I followed Aela around on my video game, creeping on her and sketching out the entire outfit, front to back. This is an exact replica except for a few modifications on the neckline and skirt slits (make it a tad more modest), and the chain mail she wears on her thighs. I copied her armor piece by piece and made each piece out of craft foam and upholstery foam. I used 3D paint to get the designs, spray painted them with "hammered steel" and a brown tint and then hand painted them with black and silver acrylic paint for bring more depth. The tacks are made from quilting tacks. Boots are actually my combat boots, I just made leg warmers out of sheep skin and suede. I thrifted the skirt and re-cut the back to get the pattern to match Aela's and used some extra brown suede to make the top. The straps are made from artificial leather and came in those strips. Armwarmers are made from a thrifted sweater that I cut the sleeves from and fitted.

I love your outfit! If you wouldn't mind, did you have to go to any websits/stores to get any of the pieces? A friend and I want to cosplay as some of our favorite characters but living in a town like ours it is hard to find any stores or hear about any 'cons or fairs (our town stopped doing one years before we were born) to help get cosplay stuff done. I always have to improv when I do a cosplay because I don't know where to go to get the stuff.

I made it. I found a thrifted skirt and made it into a dress after much re-cutting. THe armwarmers I made from the sleeves of a man's sweater, also thrifted. Everything else is 100% handmade. Armor and all.

Your welcome :) I won't be able to do Aela without a wig unless her hair magically becomes straight, blue hair >.< I did my hair blue two nights ago so it's a tad difficult to find blue haired people.

I love the way you did the armor. Your cosplay looks so authentic !
Your armor is made awesomely, probably a lot more durable than my Aela armor.
You did absolutely amazing for a first cosplay!

We all start somewhere. Truth be told i am a professional cosplayer who actually makes money of my costumes and my first ever cosplay looked like absolute shit in my opinion. Your huntress was amazing. Only thing i think needed work on it was a more period bow, and slightly lighter makeup. But that is only when i am looking for flaws. Even from the mini picture i knew right away what it was and had to take a closer look. I look forward to seeing what you do next. If you feel up to the challenge i would love to see you do the dark elf sell sword from inside the drunken huntsmen. Also the Nightingale girl. Sorry i am terrible with names.

Oh thank you so very much for the feedback. Sadly... Well I'm broke so I don't have the money to start a new cosplay for awhile. Which means I will focus on my traditional art and poetry. I have been working on getting a period hunting-bow because my modern one would destroy the whole outcome.

I would love to do one of Karliah though (I think that's who you're referring to) or maybe even Vex.

Nope i ment karliah. Vex is cute and all but not developed enough as a character. And i will see if i cant find an affordable hunting bow for you. Pretty good at tracking down deals. If you ever need help finding something let me know and will see what i can dig up.

And i can completely relate to the broke aspect. In any case i look forward to seeing what your future holds cosplay wise and with any luck we will meet at a convention one day.
