Aela On the Hunt

Description

This is my Aela the Huntress cosplay from none other than the magnificent Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

On the making of this cosplay: Yes, I am the model, but also the creator. I followed Aela around on my video game, creeping on her and sketching out the entire outfit, front to back. This is an exact replica except for a few modifications on the neckline and skirt slits (make it a tad more modest), and the chain mail she wears on her thighs. I copied her armor piece by piece and made each piece out of craft foam and upholstery foam. I used 3D paint to get the designs, spray painted them with "hammered steel" and a brown tint and then hand painted them with black and silver acrylic paint for bring more depth. The tacks are made from quilting tacks. Boots are actually my combat boots, I just made leg warmers out of sheep skin and suede. I thrifted the skirt and re-cut the back to get the pattern to math Aela's and used some extra brown suede to make the top. The straps are made from artificial leather and came in those strips. Armwarmers are made from a thrifted sweater that I cut the sleeves from and fitted.

I am a huge Skyrim geek and this is my very first full cosplay. Thanks for the support. Please leave ANY comments, feedback, or questions. More photos will soon be added from this shoot for this cosplay

Overall I must say this is an incredibly well done cosplay.

Your outfit has been photographed well and that does your outfit justice. The background of the trees and the wildlife really adds to the feel of authenticity. Also because the background is slightly out of focus and softer, it brings the focus back to your figure and outfit.

With the composition of the photo, the only thing I would suggest is cropping the branches directly on the left, or editing it so they are more out of focus. Although they are directly beside you, having them at the same sharpness as your figure draws the eye away slightly. However I do like that your figure is centered in the photo and overall it works very well.

It's obvious that you have put a lot of work into this outfit and it shows. The time, dedication and passion put into it adds to the effect so you should be very proud of how it has turned out- especially considering it is your first full cosplay.
